Rachel Male was born in the small, yet artistically driven town of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. She began dancing at the age of two and spent the majority of her training at Susquehanna Dance Center where she participated in the Contemporary Ballet of Pennsylvania, COBALT. Her passion and serious dedication to the dance field was ignited through the Dance Theatre program at Hempfield Highschool, where she worked alongside the director as an intern for her senior year performance.
Rachel went on to pursue dance professionally and earned a BFA in Dance with a concentration in performance and choreography at Slippery Rock University. Throughout her college career Rachel has performed in many works by choreographers such as Ryan McMullen, Ursula Payne, Chitra Subramanian, Grady Bowman, and many of her peers. At Slippery Rock she also had the opportunity to choreograph many of her own works, serve as President for the National Honor Society for Dance Arts, and create the SRU Department of Dance Newsletter for the 2021-22 academic year.
Beyond her dance studies, Rachel is proficient in the areas of digital design using Adobe Illustrator, video production using Adobe Premiere Pro, and communications, and is also passionate about music, writing, self-care, and seeking deep connection with the beings and world around her. In the future, Rachel aspires to continue to use a combination of these skills to encourage people of all walks of life to find a space to authentically express themselves in the field of dance.
